Wireless Weather Stations

Author: Steve Valentino

In the Midwest region of the United States, the general topics of conversations are always focused on the local football teams and the growth of crops in that year. But, by default, the conversation always leads to the weather report and news. In states like Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, any news about weather is a hot topic of discussion. In fact, here weather is spelt with capital W, which reflects, how seriously weather is monitored here by both individuals and the media. Weather in these states signifies thunderstorms, tropical depressions, tornados, blizzards, squall lines, stationary fronts, cold fronts from Canada, warm moist Gulf air, Katrina, and hurricanes. Its easy to detect the onset of any of these events by monitoring few basic conditions.

It is easy to monitor the weather conditions in your backyard, apart from monitoring the weather through TV or radio, with the use of wireless weather stations - an invention of the progressing wireless technology. These weather stations have changed how to read the weather. You no longer require running the cables out of the window or to attach a large unattractive thermometer to your house to monitor the outdoor temperature.

A wireless weather station enables a central display unit to receive information such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, and rainfall from sensors located up to 80 feet away through 433MHz transmission. It is composed of a radio station and a base station. The remote station is powered by solar energy and wakes up once in a minute to collect and transfer the data. Thus the weather information can be viewed on the pc screen, on a swap of a finger. So, now know the weather conditions in your backyard rather than trying to find the news on whats happening around the local airport or the city center.
