Floors

Author: Kent Pinkerton

The floor of a house is very important, and any person would want to walk barefoot on an attractive and appealing floor.

People who are fortunate enough to own a house would always want to choose the best materials for his house. A house contains a number of rooms, and usually the flooring is different for every room. One needs to choose the best flooring material because the flooring plays an important part in the overall outlook of a house. It is difficult to make a choice because of the wide varieties available in the market today. There are choices to suit every budget and taste. Some varieties that one can choose from are laminates, stone, wood, marble, ceramic tiles and vinyl flooring.

The condition of a house forms the basis to find the right materials for the house. The location of the house, as in the climate, needs to be considered. Other factors that need to be considered are the type of traffic and whether it is in a low-lying area.

The ideal flooring materials, if the house has a moisture retention problem, are marble, granite and concrete slabs. If ones stress is on the coordination within the decoration in the interior, hardwood flooring would be the best choice. A less costly option would be bamboo or laminated flooring. Such flooring need less care. If the house has a poor setting for wooden floors, wood laminates are the solution. Available in similar colors and styles, they are durable and withstand moisture. If the preference is for natural flooring, the best buy would be linoleum. It is available in a lot of patterns and colors and linoleum does not fade when exposed to sunlight; instead, the colors deepen. The most commonly used tiles in kitchens and bathrooms are vinyl tiles. They are inexpensive, wear well and are easy to maintain. But nothing can beat the traditional ceramic tiles that are available in a variety of colors. Wooden flooring can be used for a rustic and traditional look. A stylish alternative would be parquet flooring. Parquet is when different types and colors of wood are cut and stained and then put together to form patterns. Red oxide flooring lends a feeling of warmth to the interior.

In order to pick out the best flooring, a lot of thinking needs to be done. A persons finances and lifestyle owe a lot to the flooring. Well-done flooring can totally change the look of the room.
